Here is my first approved Artist’s Proof card from the recent Marvel Universe set from Rittenhouse archives. For those of you not familiar with the trading card collectors scene, an artist’s proof card is an officially licensed card sent to me by the company and approved by Marvel Comcis themselves before it is sold. These are the rarest items on the trading card market, and only a few are drawn by each artist per set that they do. This one was commissioned by a great client, and I wanted to make it my very best, so I did. Enjoy! More to come soon.
Hi all!
I’ve officially been given the approval to post my cards from the upcomming Marvel’s Greatest Heroes set from Rittenhouse Archives. Going forward I’ll just be displaying one at a time, but since there’s been so much anticipation about the set, I’m showing another 9 today. Hope you enjoy the work, stay tuned for more!
And please dont’ forget that I still need help with my fundraiser, so check it out here for some art at a low price. Thank you!
Those of you who have seen me at shows in the past few months have seen some of these with me. Here’s my latest portait in the set. This is the first one I’ve been truly happy with since the first three, so I now officially have a set of four. This is the first one I’ve posted on my website, but I’ll create a page for them soon and post the whole series. I’ve actually drawn nine of them now, but I’m really only satisfied with four of them so far, so I count the others which you haven’t seen as practice. I am also going to make these available to purchase on my site soon, so if you’re interested in owning one and you don’t get to see me at shows check back soon. I’m trying to get at least 12 that I’m happy with so that I can do a calendar with them or something. Of course, I guess that means I’ll have to do 12 more every year. =P
Anyway, enjoy the art, and come back for more soon.
Thanks!
Hello! ![]()
This will probably end the creaztive flurry that was this weekend, since I have to have my print order in on Monday for the Image Comics Expo, and it was all leading up to this. This was actually the only piece I planned on doing this week. I just wanted to work out a couple of others to build some steam up before I gave it a go. I also hinted at this one in my earlier posting of the Black Cat recently. I met Daniella Rangel in Albuquerque at my favorite show of the year, the Albuquerque Comic Con. She was cosplying the Black Cat, and she looked awesome and is just gorgeous, so I decided to draw her. Here’s the finished product. It’s meant ot be a companion piece to my Poison Ivy. She really liked it, I hope you all do as well.
Thanks for looking!

An instant favorite for me. I’m so happy with how this one came out. Thank to everyone who hung with me on facebook while I was working on it. I’ll post a simple animation soon of the steps I took in making this happen. Enjoy!

Continuing in the theme of creating new art from some of my favorite cards from the upcomming Marvel’s Mightiest Heroes set that I just completed, here is a new Spiderman piece. I haven’t felt the need to do a new Spiderman in a while because the piece I currently carry (done in collaboration with Josh Flower) is still one of my favorites. However, I’m hoping to get Josh out on the tour soon, and so if that happens I’ll need one of my own as to not cut into his market. I’m very happy with the piece. It will be accompanying me to a town near you very soon!
Thanks for looking!
Last weekend was the Sci-Fi Expo in Dallas, Texas, a show promoted by convention experts Official Pix. Official Pix shows consistent excellence in the shows they develop, but I had previously not attended a SciFi Expo, despite urging from my friends and fans, because of the lack of science fiction material in my portfolio. True, comic books are generally science fiction themselves, but since there is already a dedicate comic book show in Dallas, I thought it might be overkill for me to attend this one. I am very happy that I was convinced otherwise. I went to the Expo hoping to maybe break even, having really gone with the intention of reserving my table for the Dallas Comic Con in May. My outcome at the show greatly exceeded my expectations. The show was steadily busy for most of the weekend, and even though I was at first apprehensive about my placement on the floor right at the edge of the small press area, I was reassured quickly when I first arrived at my table to find friends waiting for me.
Brandon and Kristin made me feel at home, and were generous enough to purchase some more of my works. We also discussed some exciting possibilities for future works which I’ll keep you all posted on. From that point on, the show was sort of a whirlwind. I was happy to do an interview for a local media personality named Mary Channell, which you can see here in a previous post. Saturday was busy enough that I didn’t really get to get up and walk around very much, so I didn’t get to speak much with my fellow artists and creators, but I’ll try to spend some more time with them in May. I did get a couple of pieces done at the show, and I’ll make those available in Oakland next weekend.
I was also happy to see my good friend the Taffeta Darling, who attended the show casually rather than in costume. It’s always great to see the costumes she comes up with for the shows, but it’s also nice to see her true face sometimes, so I appreciated her coming by and sitting with me for a few moments.
Continuing trying to expand my portfolio from show to show. today I put this together. It’s a reinterpretation of one of my cards from the upcomming Marvel’s Mightiest Heroes set from Rittenhouse Archives. It’s Ms. Marvel, modeled after my lovely friend Daniella Rangel, who you saw previously in my new Black Cat piece. Her and I have one more on the way, another Black Cat which should be ready soon, but I’m happy that this one is ready in time for the Image Expo next weekend in Oakland. Hope you all like it
